A New Approach to Innkeeping
Rob and Leigh Blood came to Kennebunkport in June of 2004, fresh off a year of innkeeping on Nantucket Island. They were young and energetic and fell in love with Kennebunkport and the Captain Fairfield Inn. Over the first few years Rob and Leigh poured everything they had into renovations, modernizing the Inn and serving guests. In 2007, with designs on starting a family, they moved out of the Inn and hired a fantastic young couple with Innkeeping dreams. Peter and Jennifer Tignor took over as stewards of the Inn and introduced a new level of culinary magic in the kitchen.
Then, late in 2008, Rob and Leigh had dinner with Loryn Kipp (who Rob has known since grade school and who went to college with Leigh) and Finn MacDonald at the Front Room in Portland. Loryn and Finn were at crossroads in their life and were thinking about getting into some form of culinary business up in the mid-coast region of Maine. Over the next few months Rob, Leigh, Loryn and Finn decided that they’d like to form a business partnership.
Soon after these discussions took place, Loryn and Finn took over Innkeeping duties at Captain Fairfield Inn. They introduced a new level of hospitality and knowledge of the area, a boutique wine list and Loryn wowed guests with her culinary wizardry.
Late in 2010 Loryn and Finn expressed a desire to explore interests outside of Innkeeping — Enter Hillary Hamilton and Nate Korniotes!
Hillary and Nate hail from foodie hub of the South, Asheville, North Carolina. They bring a fresh enthusiasm for the Innkeeping lifestyle and for providing exceptional hospitality and creative cuisine. Growing up Nate worked every position at his family’s restaurant on Cape Cod and Hillary spent high school summers working at her Dad’s bed and breakfast on Nantucket. They both look forward to welcoming you to Kennebunkport.
So you can see – it does take a village! Our promise to you is that we always provide enthusiastic and genuine hospitality. We feel fortunate that we have worked with such talented, caring and devoted people as the Inn has progressed over the years. Each Innkeeping couple has made a significant mark on the experience at the Inn and we are all devoted to ensuring that you have an exceptional experience during your Kennebunkport getaway.
