              About Our Inn

Built in 1813 as a wedding present for James Fairfield and Lois Walker, this stately mansion, now the Captain Fairfield Inn, sits proudly on the corner of Pleasant and Green streets overlooking the historic Kennebunkport River Green.  A classic example of Federal-style architecture, the former sea captain’s home now boasts nine luxurious guest rooms and several spacious elegant common areas.  The grounds, surrounded by towering maple and elm trees, include manicured gardens, a lovely brick patio with comfortable wrought iron seating, and several private areas where you can relax and enjoy the sea air.

Each of our nine guestrooms is designed with the historic nature of the house in mind yet never forgetting the needs of the modern traveler. We have equipped each room with flat panel TV’s and DVD players as well as wired and wireless Internet access. All guest rooms have private en suite baths, most with soaking tubs and showers and all with luxurious towels and bath amenities.

Our location, on a quiet street, in the heart of historic Kennebunkport, lends itself to active days and tranquil nights. Whether you choose to sail aboard a three-masted schooner, relax on one of our area’s fabled beaches or embark on a shopping adventure, when you return to the Captain Fairfield Inn at night you are assured a blissful night’s sleep.

Innkeepers Leigh and Rob Blood (and Riley too) will offer their assistance in planning your days, making restaurant reservations and tending to your every need.

Breakfast at the Captain Fairfield Inn is the most celebrated time of day.  When you wake to the smell of freshly brewed coffee, you can wander down to the dining room to experience a breakfast prepared in the finest of Maine traditions.  Four courses later you will be on your way and may not need to eat again until dinner!

The Wishbone Gallery at the Captain Fairfield Inn proudly shows the work of New England artists.  We hope you will enjoy the pairing of these vibrant pieces with our historic home.
