From BBQ street carts, to not-so-simple Sandwiches (pork-belly reuben anyone?) to five-course gourmet meals with wine pairings, Portland restaurants offer it all. For a small city of just 65,000, Portland features a dazzlingly diverse array of eateries. The scuttlebutt is that Portland has more restaurants per capita than any US city except NYC and San Fran. True or not, this Northeastern haven on Casco Bay has close to 600 restaurants. Quite a few are world-class (Hugos, Bresca), others don’t need to be (French Press Eatery — with its deadly, decadant donuts). Here if just a handful of our favorites:
