• Wells, Maine: Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm. A 1600-acre research reserve with seven miles of hiking trails with access to woodland, fields, wetlands, and dunes. Popular with nature photographers and birdwatchers.
• Biddeford Pool, Maine: East Point Sanctuary. A 30-acre Maine Audubon Society preserve with trails, a view of Wood Island Light, and terrific birding in spring and fall. Beautiful any time of year.
